Should there be a legally mandated cap on weekly working hours?

(this could be a combination of having a couple different jobs or all at one job)

...Why should there? I think you yourself are best at deciding how many hours you're able to work a week, not the government.

We have a law which says you cant work more than 48 hours a week, but then every company has waiver forms which you can sign to opt out of that if you want to, and work more hours. So really there is no restriction.

I think it's good to have that in place though, as some companys do/did put pressure on people to work a lot of hours, so it helps to prevent people being exploited. I dont usually sign the waiver form.

IMO, the answer is no. I make more money signing up for overtime and working holidays but I know my limit as to how many hours I can put in each week.
