What’s being billed as “the world’s first gyroscopically stabilized” electric motorcycle could radically change the nature of riding a cycle. A new commuter vehicle from Lit Motors is a hyper-connected, efficient, and safe commuter vehicle with one foot in the automobile world and one foot in the motorcycle world. Enter the C-1.

he C-1 electric motorcycle is a beautiful machine, but that’s just on the surface. Under that sassy chassis are 40kw in-wheel electric motors, capable of pushing the cycle over 120 MPH, powered by battery packs with a potential 200 mile-per-charge range. The compact size and fully enclosed body are sure to make for an enjoyable commute and an easy-to-park machine, and because of some features you’ll never see in other motorcycles, this bike might be “virtually uncrashable.”

The C-1 uses electronically controlled gyroscopes under its floor, which generate over 1,300 lb/ft of torque, to keep the vehicle balanced while stopped, and the devices are said to be able to keep the cycle upright, even in the event of a collision.

While this exciting motorcycle isn’t on the market yet, you can put down as little as $250 to reserve one, and the company says we can expect to see the C-1 in show-rooms by the end of 2014.

Question: So what do you think of the C-1?

This is NOT a motorcycle and it looks like a fancy sardine can on two wheels.

No thanks and for all the reasons Smooth mentioned.

They keep calling it a motorcycle in the article. That's an insult to people who own REAL motorcycles. No biker in the world would be caught dead riding this sardine can.
