What was the worst punishment your parent/parents ever gave you?

I never got 'punished' and will certainly not use that to my children. It's stupid and stupid.

My Sister and I would get the belt across our asses when we deserved it. I believe in corporal punishment for children as long as it is used moderately. Spanking is not abuse, as the liberal sissified nanny government would have you believe.

I don't remember ever getting 'spanked' (Isn't it awkward? xD) and yet I've grown up to be just a fine adult. But you'd have to take my word for it. If an elderly person needs help I'll help them. If someone breaks into my home and tries to hurt me I won't pitty them. If a friend needs help of any kind I will give it to them. If anyone doesn't respect my rights I will take legal action against them. Just random examples to show that my psychology is probably not fucked up?

Since I am a Christian, my mother believes in (Quote from the Bible) > "Spare the Rod , you'll spoil the child". Now I know it's a lot of people that grew up without getting a belt across their butt, and they turned out very mature and responsible, but it's some children that just need a ass whooping because they just don't get it.

We would get spanked too by our dad with the belt or wooden spoons. I don't think it taught me anything other than to fear my father when he got pissed off at us for doing something bad, but we learned not to do things out of fear as opposed to understanding. My dad has since apologized for it as well because he's admitted what he did to us was out of anger, and not knowing how else to discipline us. I know this isn't a thread about spanking, but I don't believe in the "power" of it one bit.

Damian, I don't think your psychology is "fucked up" in the least! Whatever "method" (for lack of a better word) your parents used to raise you, it has obviously worked. Your comments show you learned respect and tolerance; I read your posts and it's obvious that you were raised well. That is what worked for your folks, and my parents used what worked for them.

You asked in the first line "Isn't it awkward?" and I'm wondering if you are asking me if getting spanked was awkward for me. Is that a question to me or a rhetorical question?

I just want to see what the ideal context that would require a punishment is. For example is punishing a 5-year old for accidentaly breaking a glass okay for you? Or punishing a 15-year old for trying smoking out?
And as for the the spanking being awkward feel free to answer.
