Excluding murder or assault, would you go out with someone who's spent time in jail?

No. I have two family members who have served on the police force (my step father and my sister) and they have been known to check the public records on whomever me or my brother go out with. My family has a cardinal rule. That person has to be squeaky clean. No infractions on their record.

Depends on the crime. If they were convicted for involvement in some kind of demonstration or other peaceful political action, that might be a plus. And some minor stuff would just make me shrug. But things like theft or fraud would raise trust issues, drunk driving would be a definitely no-go, computer-related offences would probably be a no-go, too, given I'm in IT and have a very dim view of black hat hackers and others of their ilk (spammers, phishers, etc.). And, as you suggest, violent crime would be right out. Rape should be on that list, too, of course.

Heck no

Sure, if that person had turned their lives around. I know several people with records, it doesn't make them automatically bad people, and while none of them are really my 'type' for dating, I wouldn't automatically discount someone just because of their past. If it's something heinous and there's a risk they could do it again, then yeah, I'd put the brakes on a bit.

For the most part I would, but it also depends what they did. If it was petty shit, yeah.

Depends on the crime and on whether or not they are truly reformed.

Depends on the crime. I have one for being involved in a car accident, it's called "unintentionally harming a person" or something of that kind if you translate to English. I think it will expire after 5 years since it's a "traffic violation", so I'm nearly out of it I think.
