You may think this is a crazy question to ask, especially if you are aware of the name pigeons that you see outside on the street which is flying rat as they tend to have diseases if they are out and about in the street.

Some people do however have pigeons as pets and they are taken care of and are free from any diseases if they are a pet. In some cases, they are also used as racing pigeons as well.

My daughter always says when we are out and we spot a pigeon that she would love one as a pet.

Would you ever keep a pigeon as a pet?

Oh sure! They are sweet-looking critters, so much akin to doves in appearance. Seems like feeding them would be pretty easy; and so long as daughter is willing to keep the cage (& area) clean and make sure they have clean water........Why not, Mom? :D

My girlfriend and I recently had one that we gave him to her mom because he needed to be outdoors. He wasn't doing well indoors. He was friendly and you could pick him up and pet him. But he was stressed out and pulling feathers. We named him Pidgey.

If @Shortie's daughter gets one, I wonder if she could also have an outside cage for it...like an outdoor rabbit cage, up off the ground.

Domesticated birds that have been in cages for generations are more well suited for life in a cage, its bred into them, its in their DNA. Seems like a pigeon needs to be free.

Uh.....no. Just no. I like to look at a pigeon from far away. Like waaay over there.

Heck no. I wouldn't want a bird as a pet in general, even if they are silly.

We had Pigeons when i was young, actually my brother had them and look after them.. but were not in the house or cage were in the backyard in a Pigeons House

Not something I'm interested in as a pet, but I know that people keep them for various purposes and that's all good. Just not something I'd do :)

Ermm... it wouldn't be my first choice, but I suppose I wouldn't be completely averse to it!
