Would you think about obtaining an EV if you were buying a new car?

Some locals in my city are not considering buying them. Based on their geographical location,they claim that these things cannot climb mountains. In my view, it is the wrong notion.

The cost of a battery replacement is out of my reach, so no, I won't be buying one. PLUS, we travel every year to see family and it's a 12 hour drive. I can't imagine adding time for charging...what would that be, like another day??? Those vehicles just aren't ready for the majority of the people yet.
