So I learned to write today... and I was wondering how everyone learned to write.

Did you learn to write in cursive?
Can other people read your handwriting?
Do you write a lot?

Care to show us how bad your writing is? :P

My handwriting is all but illegible to anybody, including me.

I don't print, nor do I do cursive. It is more a haphazard mangled scrawl that is a combination of Block Letters, Celtic Runes, Hieroglyphs, American Cursive, Alchemical Symbols and random marks coupled with a decent case of Dyslexia that makes it all much more interesting than it would be otherwise.

There have been times that I have written myself a note, a shopping list, a name and number, whatever, and about an hour later had no idea what it was or if the childish crap on the paper had any special significance or was just an ink stain from a wayward pen I had in my pocket.

No, I'm not kidding.

Intriguing, please do share.

I'd like to think that my handwriting isn't too bad. I have had a teacher or two call it sloppy, but I always thought it was very legible. I am assuming that it's because I wrote it, and therefore, of course, I know what it says, but I don't think it's that bad. I can write in cursive as well, not particularly well, but decent enough. It's about as legible as everyone else's cursive.

Too bad. What happened?

I retired from the state's Technology and Information office, and went from sitting just down the hall from the mainframe and an OC-12 connection on a gigabyte ethernet (remember those speed tests I used to post with "oh my god" numbers?), to the best internet connection available in Tilton, IL, slightly faster than dialup but I've seen better tests on a good ISDN.

Did you learn to write in cursive? Yes and still write that way.
Can other people read your handwriting? Yes.
Do you write a lot? Yes. I have to fill out all kinds of reports and forms for the hospital.

Do you have any pictures, Jazzy? :D

That's a rather unfortunate best.

I started writing in cursive in early 2003. My handwriting as of now is somewhat mixed, though a very few people can't understand it. :P

Did you learn to write in cursive? I learned, but write the regular way as I just don't care for cursive writing.
Can other people read your handwriting? Sure, half of the time.
Do you write a lot? Not really a lot, but do so on occasion.

Care to show us how bad your writing is? I could, but currently have nothing to show.

I learned to write with the standard one/two fingers in between each word practice. And then we got into cursive writing around second or third grade. After that, I began to copy my mom's writing. I copied my dad's writing, too, which is in all caps and that's still how I write today. Funnily enough, though, when I'm writing a story, I write in cursive.
