Yahoo has announced a long-awaited update to its homepage as it attempts to regain some of the ground lost to Google and halt falling revenues.
The new page - being rolled out from today, starting in the US ââ¬â has been redesigned in an effort to get users to visit the site more frequently, and to spend more time there when they do so.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer used her blog to announce a ââ¬Ånew, more modernââ¬Â Yahoo.
It is the first time the search engine has redesigned the page in four years, a time which has seen annual revenue drop by around 30 per cent from $7.2bn in 2008 to $5bn in 2012 as more advertising revenue went to rivals.
Ms Mayer knows a little bit about the main competition, having spent 13 years helping to build Google into its position as the dominant internet company.
She writes: ââ¬ÅDesigned to be more intuitive and personal, the new Yahoo! experience is all about your interests and preferences.
