Sick of her daughter's immature antics on Facebook, one mother decided to fight back with the very thing that got her in trouble.

Denise Abbott, from Akron, Ohio, created a Facebook profile picture of her daughter Ava, 13, with a red X across her mouth and the words: 'I do not know how to keep my (mouth shut)' underneath.

She added: 'I am no longer allowed on Facebook or my phone. Please ask why. I have to answer everyone that asks.'

Denise told WKYC that she had warned her daughter on several occasions about 'mouthing off' on the social networking site.

She said: 'She was told if I saw anything like that on Facebook again she would lose it for a month. If she can't talk respectfully to me, she won't be able to talk to anyone else either.

'When you put everything on Facebook, you have to realize there is a consequence for your actions.'

Instead of just barring her from Facebook, she uploaded the profile picture on to her daughter's page and her own.

Mrs Abbott said she realizes cyber discipline isn't for everyone but believes you have to adapt your parenting skills with the times.

Question: What do you think about what this mother did?

The mother is sick of her daughters immature antics? That made me laugh. This child is only 13 years old and shouldn't even be on Facebook to begin with. Perhaps if the mother spent some quality time with her daughter, her daughter would learn to respect her mother. Lack of good parenting skills is to blame here and not Facebook comments.

Actually Facebook allows anyone over 13, so there's nothing to stop the child using it. However the mother is an idiot. I'd like to know what she considers mouthing off though, as my co-workers have kids on Facebook and some of the things I've read from them are dire.
