If you are using Flash on your computer, it could give hackers an easy way to take over your machine and even get into online bank accounts.

Just days after a vulnerability was found in the software (used in browsers such as Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer), another vulnerability has been found which could offer hackers a way in.

Adobe has already dealt with the first – but unless you use computer security software, the second one could leave your machine vulnerable.

Adobe will doubtless produce a ‘patch’ – a software update which deals with the problem – but for now the vulnerability means that any internet browser is (in theory) vulnerable to attack.

Browser firm Mozilla, makers of Firefox, has disabled Flash by default.

Security firm Norton says, ”It looks like there was another Adobe Flash Player vulnerability (CVE-2015-5122) found within the HackingTeam data dump.

However, the patch that Adobe released last week addressing the previous vulnerability will not protect users against this newly discovered vulnerability.#

If you’re worried, a detailed guide to how to disable Flash can be found here (please note: this means that some videos and animations won’t play in your browser.)

Symantec has confirmed the existence of this vulnerability by recreating the exploit on the most recent, fully patched version of Adobe Flash Player (18.0.0.194) with the Internet Explorer browser.

If anyone here doesn't know which version you have installed, click the link below to get a quick & easy answer:

Here's what it says for me:

I assume Adobe programmers have fixed the problem in this newest version, rendering this news a bit outdated, if you'll pardon my pun. :P

Google Chrome users should simply update their browsers, since the flash player is integrated into Google Chrome, thus eliminating the need for separately downloading and installing the flash player, so check if your GC browser is up to date and let it update itself if it isn't.

If you're using anything else, you'll have to manually grab & install the latest version:

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

It even offers to install Google Chrome for you, if you don't have it, so make sure to untick the 'Optional offer' checkbox, if you don't want it. :)
