There are many games recording software out there. Frap and Bandicam are very popular among the world of gaming. Which software do you use to record your gameplay? When I first started recording gameplay, I used Frap. However, Frap can only record for 30 seconds so I switched to Bandicam. Bandicam works great. I have been using it for many years; no problem with it.

I've never recorded my game play, are you talking about recording computer PC games or recording console games, because I don't think a program could help you record stuff that is not connected to your computer.
