I want to say as a birthday gift! If you mean by working... I used to ask my mom to buy me a bag of candy and I would turn around and sell the candy for $0.25 a piece at school.

Well, the first was a Birthday gift but then again it was not a dollar bill In Australia and UK, we do not have dollar bills here.
