I wouldn't call yourself a hacker, it carries negative connotations, even if the technical term for someone who hacks and damages things is a cracker... Trust me, I've dealt with all the repercussions more than once.

Most likely a security company. They'd let you crack into things, or find exploits, just so that they could know what they need to fix.
 
You'll wanna be very careful then. Make sure you have permission from the entire coding team and the licensor of that software, before you even pop open a hex editor and go anywhere. And make sure you have it in writing (real life) before you try.



Basically, you're gonna be a greyhat... and that's a bad place to be, because the boundary between black and grey is blurred. As soon as you find it, you have to release and inform, otherwise you'll be labeled black.
