What is one song that your parents played that makes you think of them?

Did your parents have good taste in music? What did they like to listen to?

Do you like the same type of music they liked?

:family:

My mom loved rock and roll, my dad loved country, but they both loved the blues when it was played at weddings. There's more than one song that makes me think of them but I have fond memories of them doing the Chicago blues dancing at weddings. Have you seen that style?

I love the music my parents listened to, in fact I mainly listen to 70s, 80s, classic rock. Thats all they listened to. My daughter loves the same music as well. Must run in the family :p

Mom liked classical symphony and opera.
'Mama Tried' to expose me to culture ....... but it didn't work.

Well, Roger Whittaker just passed away and he was a favourite of both parents and me so, yeah, him. The Four Lads was more their actual era and I saw them with my parents once.

LOL. My son was heavily into EDM in high school. Drove me a bit nuts because aside from a few songs, not a fan myself. Then he goes off to university, we go to visit him (about 6-8 hours away from us) and he's now into Led Zeppelin and early Springsteen. Stuff I don't actually even listen to that much (I'm more of an eighties and later guy). Not sure what happened there. Now he's married and I'm not sure what they listen to other than they went to a My Chemical Romance show once.

I don't have songs that make me think of them, my mother loved Scottish folk music, so I suppose that does make me think of her, while my dad was more prog rock. I like some prog rock, too, but not because of him.

My father would BLAST classical music late into the evening when I was trying to sleep. I recognize so many pieces by osmosis it's freaky. But he HATED opera.
My mother listened to easy listening radio and I hated it.

Mom and Dad both into Scottish music, esp. pipe bands.

Mine loved pretty much all classical and was heavily into opera. Listened to the Met broadcast on Saturday afternoon and watched the productions that were shown on PBS. And it definitely rubbed off on me. I did my eulogy at his memorial on how he influenced my taste in music. Not just my love of Romantic period orchestral and opera music, but just my general love of big, dramatic, emotional music. Even today, I see it in my love of power and symphonic metal.

My mother loves country music. She was an avid listener of The Chicks. She listened to them all of the time in the early 2000's.

So anytime I'd hear one of their songs over the radio, it reminds me of her.

Hmm i don't even know, when i was young we only had a simple radio and what ever there playing. I never heard my parents mentioned what they like.
