Do you feel safe living in your neighborhood? Why/Why not?

Yes and no. I've had my car broken into and there are quiet the shady people walking up and down this trail that runs along the freeway I live by. It's right outside the back of our apartments, and although there are a lot of students and people biking on it, we get some druggies and drunks out there, too. I've seen a lot of police cars parked near the entrance, which is essentially the entrance to our driveway/carport, but I've never been physically accosted or threatened, so I guess it's not TOO bad yet.

My immediate neighborhood, yes...the City of Stockton (CA) as a whole? No.

Stockton's famous for having nice pockets, surrounded by complete ghetto and gang-infested areas; you have to drive through the shit TO get to the good stuff.

Lol, I don't mind driving through Stockton, or even staying there when we're headed down south, but go much further than a few blocks away from I-5 and you're asking for trouble. Although there is a part of the city near the airport when you're just driving up (I think) north that isn't too bad. It seems like it's the newer part with a bunch of recently built homes.

@Dee

Yeah...I'm in North Stockton, not far from the newest part of Stockton, that's rapidly butting up against Lodi. MY immediate neighborhood is good, but I'm completely surrounded (on 3 sides) by gang-infested streets and turf - which IS the Story of Stockton...and pretty much the story of most of 'Northern' California, from Fresno to the Bay Area, these days.

There's gangbanger looking people directly across the street and they are ALWAYS outside drinking & smoking and looking at me whenever I'm outside. Sometimes it makes me uncomfortable but they've never said or did anything to me. *knock on wood*

I'm glad we moved out of Fresno when we did because it's more pockets of "okay" neighborhoods as opposed to pockets of bad neighborhoods.

Well doggy neighbourhood here, you have to watch out for the cows cause when they gang up on you theres milk flying everywhere:fighting:

I have no neighborhood. I live on a 23 wooded lot way out in the boonies. The only 'thugs' around here are the coyotes that like to scare me from time to time. Can't blame them as they were the first 'settlers' here and have "squatters rights" to the property.

It's nice of them to allow you to share their homeland, Jazzy...

...for now.

When I lived in Colorado Springs, the base of the Rockies was our backyard. We'd built a stucco wall to create a private patio and one day, while 'quitting smoking', I went on the outer side of the wall and crouched down to sneak a smoke, out of My Dear Beloved's sight. While puffing away, I glanced up in the scrub oak and saw a coyote

crouched down, stalking me.

I quit smoking...for a couple of days, anyway.

I would approach them very distantly with kindness and humor. It always breaks the ice and turns out well:)

Coyotes are scary but if they were the first settlers I guess you'd be the squatter on their property LOL :)

I live in a large historic home in a historic neighborhood on the Hudson River bank and riverfront. My family has been in the home since 1956 and I inherited it from my grandma. Everyone in the neighborhood is in similar situations with their homes and we've all been friends since birth our parents and grandparents grew up together.... I still keep all my doors locked at all times. It's not the neighbors, it's the outsiders I'm scared of lol

My neighborhood is a quiet one .... not a lot of traffic or hoodlums :nono: ,

ironically I live on the same street that the empty lot were my friends and I partied when I was in HS is............they made it into a park...

we used to call it "the neighb’s" we'd drink and smoke  :bigboss: and have bonfires in the woods there :7up: ....funny, I never thought I would end up owning a house on the same street I partied on as a kid…
