My wife had a marathon run last week in Fort Lauderdale. On mile 4 of the 26 mile run she took a fall bashing the left side of her face that caused swelling for eye to close shut. Her hand had a huge chunk of skin removed. Her pants got ripped at the knees and also were bleeding and hurt. And other various cuts and bruises. Bleeding and hurt for just a run that is supposed to be fun she got up and completed it in damn fine time instead of just giving up. She always says she is not that tough. I would have to disagree once and for all.

So that got me thinking should women be on the front lines fighting a war. I believe they would be no less brave and determined that is for sure. But the downside is that it has been proven over and over again is the average fit man is always stronger then a woman. Mens bodies can take the punishment of carrying heavy loads for longer times then a woman before the body sustains permanent back damage.

So I would still have to say no that answer.

In the case of equality, it does not mean they need to be the 'same as'

which is to say, that if a woman wants to join the army and fight, and is capable, then she should have the right to do so, there are a many ways for compensating and managing for the physical differences between men and women, but that is logistics, and not capability.

Right now, many Kurdish women are out on the front lines fighting ISIS and I say more power to them.

Different circumstances for the Kurds. They are fighting for their very existence.

But for American troops there should be no managing anything. If the grunt guy soldier's have to walk 15 miles with a 80 pound pack then so should the woman. Fighter pilots, mechanics, artillery, tanks etc. I am all for it. But a frontline soldier or something like a navy seal I don't think so.

I feel if they wish too and can carry the same amount as any other soldier... They should be allowed. A soldier is a soldier... Once you put on the uniform and stand on the front line there is no male or female. Just soldier.

Yes women should be allowed.

If an individual has something useful to contribute, why not put those skills & abilities to good use? Saying no to any (potentially great) soldier would be a wasted opportunity to strengthen the military.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, in that country, it is ALL "the front lines".

Where was it pointed out elsewhere? You mean here in this topic or some other one?

I have been reading how woman in Israel since there founding have had women in certain combat roles and there supreme court has ruled women are allowed to fight in combat roles. But I can't find anything that the military has followed that law and allowed women in the kind of front line positions I described. But what I do find interesting is women and not men can get exempt from the draft under religious reasons. So it seems the radical feminist movement has hit Israel where they have special rights for women over men.
