About 3 times in my life I've tried it and it's agitating as hell trying to match with people just to have everyone ignore you mostly. I'd rather meet someone organically than online, but that seems to happen less and less nowadays.
I'm affiliated with forums that are attached to a dating site...I have 169 emails from men sitting in my mail box..They can sit there because I'm not interested in online dating & let's face it to me online dating is a haven for people of both genders who are married or in relationships..I'm all about the real world not fantasy mumbo jumbo

Not using dating sites. But I have entered relationships with people I first met online (including my current relationship - which is still mostly online, although we do meet up once or twice a month).

Oh yeah long distance relationships can be tough! At least you know to ask about location and consider whether one of you are willing to move if you're too far next time
I banged a couple of gals I met on Zoosk back in the day and imported many more from other websites. Nowadays I just stay home and jerk off. It's much safer. Bitches be crazy these days! 😄

It depends on what you count as online dating, really. Generally speaking here, I would say yes given that the only two romantic relationships I had was online and long distance. I did meet up with these two girls once to twice and have at least kissed them on the lips, but at some point the first one couldn't handle it just being online anymore and couldn't wait until we both have jobs so we can be together, so she cheated on me.
The second one, was my girlfriend for nearly 2 years though we did broke up twice before she finally left for good. I wasn't very good at showing my love so she thought that was she was doing wasn't enough for me, even though it was really just because I really suck at showing it...but instead of fixing it, she just decided to call it quits just like the first time around because of how much of a coward she is that she's under the impression that she's the only one getting hurt with the stuff that happens.
With the experiences I had, I personally do not recommend it if you and your partner can't be with each other irl often.
