Things can go wrong when you travel. Have you had any bad travel experiences?

I went to see the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe movie at the odeon

halfway threw the performance, the movie stopped and the fire alarm went off

we all went outside in to the pouring rain- and found out that the popcorn machine had exploded and we all had to go home because their would be no more narnia

another time, I went to a child's birthday party

the dj, who was meant to be doing the disco for the kids ended up getting drunk and fell in the paddling pool- then when she got out, she rushed round the back of the trees and was sick (for all the kids to watch!)

worst of all, the mom of the kid who's birthday it was had to do all the entertainment- and no one enjoyed it

Just flat tires back in the olden days.
And struggling to put on snow chains in sloppy weather.

ahh...the good ol' days! :yahoo:

Yeah one time I went to Santa Cruz for the day and it was a great day until it was time to go home.... My car started up just fine but we never made it out of the city. We broke down a few blocks from the Boardwalk. It was on the weekend at night so no repair shops were open. I called for a tow truck at 8pm and he didn't get there until after midnight. 4 hours of sitting in the car waiting. When he finally did show up he said he only had room for 2 passengers (there was 3 of us). We talked him into letting all 3 of us squeeze into the tow truck but we were packed in there like sardines. It was super uncomfortable and painful to be squished in there like that and the ride home took a couple hours. What a nightmare but at least we made it home. Almost every time I've gone to Santa Cruz I've had some kind of issue with my car (got a parking ticket, flat tire, engine trouble, etc). I am starting to think Santa Cruz is cursed.

Sure. I travel to work and back home via public transport every day. Not a pleasant experience. :p

Tell us some of your public transportation stories.

Did you get a refund?

How unprofessional. Hopefully that lady DJ learned from her mistakes and didn't ruin any more kids birthday parties after that.

I've had sooooo many flat tires, I am pretty much an expert at changing them now :P

Now that is enough to take the wind out of your sails! One of those days that looks so much better in the rear view mirror.

Sure did. I haven't gone back there since. I have a better car now so if we did go we'd probably be okay *knock on wood*

again at the odeon

went to see the first downton abby movie

the girl behind the desk was like okay, so what can I get you?

I told her 1 ticket to downton abby, a large dr pepper, and a large pick and mix

she looked at me and started thinking, long and hard
then she said to me, I think you'd be better off with a medium drink- is that okay?

I didn't say anything, until the woman behind me said she's trying to tell you you're a bit fat for a large drink.

I ended up getting my medium drink (because she wouldn't give me a large), and went to see the movie- which I ended up missing the end of, due to the parking running out

I had a bad international travel experience. I toured Auckland, New Zealand 13 times. That time my stopover was in Guangzhou China. Passengers were mostly Chinese only a few for Australia and New Zealand. The Chinese guy behind me kept on pushing my seat severally. I got dizzy. I was so angry that I stood up and almost kicked him. I looked at him sharply and told the flight attendant to move out that bad Chinese passenger. :verymad:

Here in the states you could probably sue them over something like that. Or at least get the bigot behind the counter fired.

Back to topic - It didn't happen with me, but with my friend. She had trouble in South Korea because the people there were being unfriendly to her, and in general had way more hassle navigating due to minimal help from the locals.

You don't need help from locals nowadays if you have a smartphone and a signal :P
