Children usually love sweet foods. How important is the food that children eat? Does it have to be healthy?

I'd say a good balance of healthy and sweets is a good option. The problem is getting children to actually eat healthy food, though, since "healthy" means "vegetables" which has a repulsive taste to them, so they just spit it out, which then leads to parents losing their patience, exploding in a fit of rage and starting to yell & scream, possibly even beat their children, despite being fully aware that exact kind of reaction is to be expected from their children when fed something their sense of taste is telling them is.. well, yuck.

I could have fed my daughter more healthier foods when she was younger. We ate a lot of fast food and microwave dinners. Hopefully she doesn't do that to her kids.

I think it's very important to OFFER healthy foods to infants & toddlers; get them accustomed to eating fresh fruits & veggies & they'll grow up thinking that's "normal". :D So many sugary things in our processed foods now; lots of (type 2) diabetic people too.

Was never a fan of the whole changes they made to school lunches and what kids can and cannot have during the Obama era in schools. Like at my school they only allowed diet sodas and not regular soda. I do think it is important to offer healthy options, but not to force it on kids.

Oh, for sure. I had parents and others who'd get upset over me not eating veggies and such as a kid. I even had babysitters at the time get upset too. That just makes a kid not want to try to eat anything like veggies. I didn't like scrambled eggs till years later. I think what helped me is trying it mixed with like hash browns and other foods I like.

; lots of (type 2) diabetic people too.
Yep, I am a type 2 diabetic cause of my lifestyle choices and all. Didn't get it till 2019 or so and have always ate kinda bad even as a kid.

I've heard of some parents that never introduce unhealthy food to begin with. The kid only eats at home and never any junk.. Until they go to school then its all down hill from there. Lol

Even then you hardly ever see schools do junk food anymore.

Good intentions, I'm sure.
I guess I'm of the "variety is the spice of life" school, though. I think kids should have some KitKat bars mixed with their spinach. :p
