Have you ever wanted to learn?
Anyone who is good a chess and has a yahoo account, maybe we can play of these days when I have free time.
Yahoo used to be a hub for everything, now they're quite sad...Used to be on yahoo games all the time back in the day. Do they still have a game section on their website?
-Edit- Nope, they dissolved it in 2016.
Do you still play Chess? I would usually be overconfident and say I'll beat the shit out of you, but since I'm not that good at it, I'll only say that I'll modestly win. ^-^ (Jk, but it'll be fun).Used to be on yahoo games all the time back in the day. Not really. I don't think I've ever played it IRL, just on computers and phones. Once you memorize what each piece can do, its a pretty easy game.Do you still play Chess? What? Did you say "what each piece can do"? Do you mean the openings? NO ONE MEMORIZES SOMETHING AS LITTLE AS THEIR FUNCTIONSNot really. I don't think I've ever played it IRL, just on computers and phones. Once you memorize what each piece can do, its a pretty easy game.

You said it becomes easy if "you memorize what each piece does". It's like me saying Basketball becomes easy if you know the rules.

I want to comment on you, but I thought the exact same way until I actually played real Chess. It becomes so much of a fuckery past 1500 tbvh.Okay well its not as simple as memorizing what each piece does, you have to move them in a strategic way... but yeah, still easy peezy.
You better not or I can be like Hans Niemann and get $100 million doll hairs.I want to comment on you
You're an absolute nut job and can't play for shit. There, I'm waiting for my lawsuit. You better not

Btw, for real, do you know he's the most popular Chess player right now? Magnus has and always had the No. 1 spot for so long now, but with this controversy, even the non-chess community is being made aware of it, making Hans the most notorious player.
Yeah "Magnus FTW" is the phrase since forever, I can't remember how long I've been hearing about him. But with this, this one thing, that can finally change.
Magnus FTW!
I am definitely not at your level when it comes to chess. On gameknot I am currently sitting at 1356 from about 800 games. These days it seems to float between here and about 1450. My gaming is way too influenced by my mood at the time of my turns. I am also way too stubborn and take turns when every ounce of logic tells me it is not the time. When I was feeling the impacts of Covid the worst I made some of the most stupid moves I have ever made in my life. So I can play it, but not so well. I have been getting more into it these past two years or so. I don't really know people in person I can play chess with. So depend on Gameknot. Also started playing someone from the Slowly app over Chess.com. I am totally expecting to lose that game, as he is leagues above me. But I am really enjoying it. I don't mind losing to more skilled opposition. It just upsets me when the loss is from my own bad moves that I should have avoided.I want to comment on you, but I thought the exact same way until I actually played real Chess. Yeah dw, I'm not at 1500 either - But I do know that at one point everyone knows most things like memorized tactics or whatever, so after that it's pretty much just a game of less mistakes.I am definitely not at your level when it comes to chess. I will definitely PM sometime soon about playing! Just a little busy not doing assignments at the moment. Have one due in 90min and two more due on Monday.Yeah dw, I'm not at 1500 either - But I do know that at one point everyone knows most things like memorized tactics or whatever, so after that it's pretty much just a game of less mistakes.
And I usually don't play (regularly) against someone that's miles ahead of me, but it's a good way to improve I guess. I think one of the ways you can improve is by using engine-analysis, that usually requires premium/payment but it's the best way to go about it imo. The type that records your game and then at the end, you can see what exactly you should've done - Do that frequently and you'll get the hang of it seriously fast.
Also idk if you want to play together, but if you do, PM me.
Man that's what I meant earlier lmao. At a certain point you'd have to garner a shit-ton of knowledge to continue and after you successfully pass that point, the next one is where everyone has read and researched lots of knowledge, basically making it even more of a mindfuck. And yeah sometimes adept Chess players won't necessarily read a book themselves, but they can recommend to lesser skilled ones if they feel it's good. Anyways, nice talking with ya, I'll respond to your request when/if you send it.I will definitely PM sometime soon about playing! Just a little busy not doing assignments at the moment. Agreed that a lot of it, especially at higher levels comes down to memorizing different tactics and strategies. It is why the best chess player I have ever known in person was constantly studying and reading up on it every chance he got. He would spend all his breaks at work studying chess strategies. His chess rating was somewhere over 2,000, but it has been almost a decade since I knew him so I am a bit rusty. I really should buy that book he advised to me at some point. I did buy it, but had one of my moments when I found out he didn't actually own a copy of it and gave it to him as a gift.
Rejoice at the fact you weren't a nerd.Yes. I used to play all of the time in grade school. I did become discouraged when I played against this guy who was in the chess club in high school and lost in under 3 minutes of us playing.
On chess.com I am still on 1200 because I have only finished like 3 games. On Gameknot it is 1403 from 828 games. It seems to fluctuate a lot. Although I have won more than I have lost which makes me happy. One of my losses was also against one of the best chess players in New Zealand. Somehow through absolute luck I happened to be coworkers with him at one point and he played me online. He came first equal in this year's correspondence chess New Zealand championship.Well, I was aiming to get to 1400... so, I should update you on how that went.
I got to 1398... and then somehow lost 95% of my ability to play chess, and lost nine games in a row >_< .
Now I'm down to 1295 (so not even in the 1300s any more), but that's probably deserved, since I was playing like a three-digit player at times!
Wow, congrats to him :O !On chess.com I am still on 1200 because I have only finished like 3 games. On Gameknot it is 1403 from 828 games. It seems to fluctuate a lot.
