Leave a forum for good

I left one forum for members did not discuss, they just visited the site to observe. That was the Q&A forum. Many asked and answered but there were no interactions. It was a dry site.

I’ve stopped going to some forums where the admins are cliquey. I hate that..

If you tell me I post too much, I'm gone for good.

If the ads take over my screen, I usually don't come back. I don't like ad-blockers. I enjoy ads when they're good ads. I click and buy things a lot :) But popups and full-screen ads really just make me angry lol.

If I feel like I don't fit in, I usually don't come back.

I joined a couple of cycling forums recently. One was a majority of fellow Americans. They were overzealous to me, rude, and really made sure I knew they thought of me as a noob. The other one was mainly people from the United Kingdom. I felt immediately part of the group with them. So, I stuck with their forum and didn't go back to the other.

Don't think I've ever seen anyone say that before. :P

AdBlock is a must for me! Can't say I've ever "enjoyed" an advertisement before. Ads are creepy these days. You simply mention a product name these days, your devices hear that and show you ads for it!

:fright:

They're not for everyone.

I'd just miss out on stuff. I've found some great things because of ads, and saved money :)

But I tend to always try to shop local after seeing an ad before actually clicking it and buying that way.

But I'm pretty rural so not everything is being sold locally.

Makes sense, but I always feel there is a catch to ads, they're not trying to save me money they are trying to trick me.

In a way...

I do a little bit of copywriting jobs here and there. In order to get paid, you have to write ad sales speak in a way that is inviting to the potential consumer.

Now I'm against tricking people (deceiving them at least) but marketing speak is fundamental I'm in agreement with.

It's how most people make serious money.

Think of anything you buy. What makes you buy it?

What makes me buy something? Usually because I want or need it, its rarely because I've seen an ad for it. I have ad-block on the internet and don't see commercials on TV any more since I just have streaming services (like Hulu, Netflix, etc) and pay for the ad-free versions of all those.

I haven't watched TV in like 4 years :P

I do watch YouTube tho but premium so no ads there. I do got to say I like that lol.

One member removed herself from my forum twice. That's cool, because that member will never join again.

Toxic atmosphere
Toxic members
Toxic administrators
Drama
Trolls

Yes I have for my own sanity.

Those are some pretty good reasons!

Sometimes I'll leave forums because they're inactive. No sense in talking to myself, especially when there's not even a moderator or admin logging in there.

Was banned recently, unbanned soon after I became an admin elsewhere and joined TAZ, but then I never went back as I felt like it's on them and nothing to do with me anymore :)
We're responsible for our own feelings and emotions... we can't be responsible for others' opinions of us
I have nothing against the staff, just don't wanna put myself in that situation again or feel like I'm being an annoying burden :p
The bond with forums can be very real... for me, once I move on, I don't look back. My peace is more important than justice :)

Also, I'm a member of WAY too many forums for me to have time to be active on every forum I'm a member of, let alone somewhere I've had some kinda fallout/drama 😕

I'd prolly not use TAZ these days. It's just a corpo owned thing now, and it never was like that. I was a reviewer there a loong time ago. The Sandman just sold it to some company iirc.
