Secret forums?

Back in the days when teenagers were the majority of the members on forums. :p
Absolutely! Forum rules always dictated serious questions only, and they ALWAYS came in with the same two or three juvenile questions, repeatedly. It was hilarious, but a tad predictable.

There was no such thing as a serious conversation back then. :P

Oh yeah, those ones were terrible!! Spammers were awful, but the trolls that just wouldn't leave...ugh.

I remember a few times I would just turn off new user registrations for a while just to give myself a break. Of course you lose potential new members that way but you have to weigh your options sometimes.

Agreed, you've got to keep the trouble out, let the membership have a break from it, too, and then introduce new elements into the mix again, hopefully without the trolls.

I am glad its not like that any more. *knock on wood*

It is pretty common to have secret sections for VIP members and even staff members. I know myself I have a secret section for staff on my forums where we can discuss any issues that need to be discussed without it being out in the open and in public. I would never make any kind of forums and keep them secret if it meant it was against a member though. VIP and staff forums are the only ones I would keep secret.

I always have secret areas on my forums. They're usually just staff lounges, but I also have one for the early bird usergroup on my new inclusive forum. :) I'm also a Tech member on Sonic Retro, and we get our own private lounge. Though it's often dead, I think the last time anyone has ever posted in the lounge was months ago and it wasn't even based around hacking Sonic. It was a private matter that another tech member wanted to keep among techies, so I'm not going to go into more detail. :P
