Housebroken means an animal has been trained to live indoors peacefully with humans, not destroying furniture or peeing and pooping in the wrong places.

Are your pets housebroken? Was it hard to get them to that point? Do you have any tips on house-breaking an animal?

My cats have their moments, but the dogs certainly are. Just takes time an practice to get them to learn.

Ha, not one of our dogs has really been. But we've only had small ones and I always heard they were not easy to train.

My sister's first dog a chihuahua, we would put paper out in her spots and she'd pick a new one. XD She was super stubborn. My dog that I currently have also a chihuahua, when we got her she was going on the paper then stopped. She'll at least usually go in corners though. My sister had some Pomeranian mix. She would sometimes go on the paper, but again she at least would go in the corners. My sister's current dog a King Charles does know to and will...when she feels like it. It's worse with her cause she'll just in the middle of the room. Especially when she poops cause she like wanders around and leaves it all over.

This is the main reason why I haven't gotten a cat or a dog yet. I don't want to deal with their piss and shit all the time.

Yes, these two cats are very good about only using their "digs"; cats, in general are pretty good about learning litter-box training quickly and easily. Maybe one good thing to try to remember is to keep their litter pan/box reasonably clean; I scoop ours out once in the morning and again in the evening before bedtime.
I have found out that sometimes male cats (even neutered) will 'dislike' each other and have to compete with each other by "marking" territory.....very hard to deal with a psycho cat.
Seems to generally take a little more time & patience with dogs. Crate training is a good start; praise or little rewards work much better than scolding, shaming or punishing. :)

My boys are litter box trained and came that way after I adopted them. Never had an issue so far. The only real issue I had was with my girl kitty who lived to be 18. She had chronic kidney disease, needed sub-q fluids every other day, and would either pee outside the litter box, peed on the floor, peed on the desk, and peed on my couch. She was just suffering at that point.

Sounds like you know what you're talking about! :friends:

Aww, poor thing. Glad she isn't suffering any more.

Yeah. It was a really hard decision to make, but when that happened I knew it was time. There was nothing more I could do for her other than let her go.
I think you made the right decision.
