The head of the Wagner mercenary group has shared a video standing in front of what he claims are the dozens of bodies of fighters who had died on Thursday, directly blaming the Russian authorities for a lack of ammunition. In his most outspoken criticism of the Kremlin so far, Yevgeny Prigozhin said the group lacked 70pc of the ammunition that they needed, and appealed directly to defence minister Sergei Shoigu and the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. The Wagner group has been fighting in the hotly contested front line city of Bakhmut, where they have been making territorial gains but also sustaining significant losses. In the graphic and expletive-laden video uploaded to Telegram, Mr Prigozhin shouted: “We’re 70 per cent short on ammo. Shoigu, Gerasimov, where’s the f------ ammunition? F------ look at them!”
