Do you use an ad-blocker?

I use Brave Browser as well as Mozilla & Chrome. I like Brave but the ad-blockers tend to block too much. I cannot remove it for some sites including my own forum. I end up having to go to another browser.
What are some benefits to using ad-blockers? How do people deal with it when they cannot access certain websites or forums?

I do use one on my laptop. Some of the ads are just getting ridiculous on certain sites these days.

I have adblocker plus enabled on all versions of Firefox that I use. The only time I will disable it is when I visit trusted sites that have ads, for example I'll disable my adblocker on Forum Promotion. I know ads are there to help pay for websites, but some websites just have way too many ads and sites like this usually have malicious ads that can download viruses to your computer.

I have a lot of ad block extensions enabled on my browser. I use AdBlock, uBlock Origin, Opera Privacy Protection, and Web Boost.

Adblock plus. Popup blocker. Third party cookies disabled. Tracking blockers. and whatever that thing that is blinking right now is supposed to be doing.

I also have as many "video auto play" options turned off as I can find, and if anything tries to open another tab or window there's about three different alerts that light up.

On this laptop I use Ghostery. Seems to stop ads and most trackers ok without restricting access to most sites.

I don't bother with an adblocker on my tablet as I don't use it as much for browsing.

Absolutely, and not just for the annoying as fuck ads that pop up constantly and in hoards.

If not just to block the ads, then what else?

They can also screw with analytics, and I loves me a good screwing with, especially from data mining corporations.
Thanks!
I think I'm not into programming & the deeper things like that ( ) nearly so much as you are. And, the ads just are not so disturbing or disruptive to me; in fact I find some of them pretty amusing.
So, when/if I do get to the point where they do bother me enough then it's good to have some good referrals on which ad-blockers to apply.

When playing solo games like solitaire or chess against the computer, I find temporarily disconnecting from the net is one way to restrict ads.

Yes, I acknowledge, accept and respect that ads pay for the forum or utility. But the ad companies don't pay me to endure them especially as they peddle rubbish irrelevant to me such as cars, car insurance and dating sites (I don't drive and I don't date).
