first off, I guess someone will be eating their hat because it isn't an arrow (I really want to see this!)
also, I can tell you that no one was even close.
this puzzle has 2 parts. first of all, you need to work out the answers to the 3 clues, then you need to work out what one word links the 3 clues
so, the answers are

I have also taken many lives- a coffin
I can guide your way if you are lost- matches
if you put the 3 clues together, then you should be able to get the link word box
