Off Topix is a well established general discussion forum that originally opened to the public way back in 2009! We provide a laid back atmosphere and our members are down to earth. We have a ton of content and fresh stuff is constantly being added. We cover all sorts of topics, so there's bound to be something inside to pique your interest. An email reminder can help if people actually check their emails. A lot of people use a "junk email" account to join forums and other stuff that isn't a huge priority to them. I know I have a separate personal email account that I use only for my bill payments, work stuff, communicating with people I know IRL. The email account I use to join forums is one that I just go in and clear out every so often without reading any of the emails. Maintaining a presence on other forums can help. A lot of your members might be on other forums, if they see you posting with a link back to your forum in your signature, they might come back over for a visit.
If you and some of your members follow each other on social media, interacting with them there can help.
Other than that you can't really do anything. People come and go, some people disappear forever. Some people become regulars, its all part running a forum I suppose.
I ran multiple forums and I never figured it out.
It must be even more difficult nowadays. You're competing with social media.
True, a big chunk of members have disappeared off to social media but also a lot of members that still frequent forums will say "I hate social media" so we're not competing within that group of people.
An email was what brought me back here, so it works.

It brought me back here too. I figured it would have just been Neb trying to run the forum from square one, but then realized that was not the case. I feel like that is what made me log in my very old account. It's so far been shown that this forum was unlikely gonna be a forum that just closes in a few months or so like so many these days.

Nope, we're not going anywhere this time around. In a couple days we'll be reopened for an entire year!
Side note: I am glad the emails works on some people!
