When a stranger calls you "brother"?

Or "sister".
Seems a little odd to me, but cordial and not really offensive. :)
I find sister awkward from anyone I'm not close to really. Brother a tad awkward too.
I'm cool with bro from anyone though really. That's just a casual term for me, rather than an endearing one. :)

Come to california, where everyone calls you "bro" ...doesn't matter what your gender is either. For some people, its literally every other word out of their mouth when they're talking to you.

At least if I go to Hawaii they're calling me bra. That's closer. :D

no because I'm female

I don't like it when I'm called sister, either

Do you like it when a stranger calls you brother? Why or why not?
Depends on the context; most times no since I don't know the person.
That said, the one time it is acceptable is at church because its' one Christian saying hello to another Christian (brother to brother, for instance).
