Well...I can only speak for myself, but animals hold much more value in my life than people in general. Of course I love my family and friends, but I hold my pets as high a value as I do a member of the family.Is it morally right to spend a lot of money on pets, rather than helping people in need?

Absolutely! I rarely go out and socialize or see people. My dog is my only companion.
