How old were you when you started working?

It started slow for me. My mom had me getting summer jobs when I was as young as 10. Then I got my first part time job when I was 17 years old.

I got my first part time job when I was 17 years old too. I’m currently 21 years old and I will be starting my first full-time job next month. Exciting times.

I didn't get my first job until I was 20 years old, it was a part time job at a local grocery store called Shop N Save. I was a cashier and I didn't like it, but I needed to get a job.

I was 14 when I started babysitting. I did that for a long time until the family moved my senior year of high school and then went to work at a department store in the office.

When I was sixteen, I had a job for all of two hours at a small restaurant. As far as I could tell, nothing bad happened. I started the same day as the interview and then, when I called them, they told me everything was fine, but that it would be on an "as needed basis", never went back. I remember the check for two hours of work was $40, so I think she must have felt bad (it was also paid in cash, haha).

When I was eighteen, I started my first official job where I worked at a Deli for two years.

I had a paper route at 14 or 15, which only lasted a few months. Then I had a job in fast food for 3 months. Then retail when I was 18, been working ever since.

I think I was 16. I've been without a job off and on since then, but right now I have two part-time jobs. For the record, the first job I had was the only job I've ever been fired from.

I was brought into my mother's business when I was 8 years old. She owns a detergent and soap making factory business. I learnt everything about the business before I turned 10 years old and was actively involved in the business.

I always remember I used to have small odd jobs from my family from as young as around 10 - 11 years old but the first proper job that I worked was when I was 16.

That was a summer job before I started college as a waitress at a cafe that was owned by my dad's friend's mother. I remember staying there for the summer as they only opened during the spring and summer months as a seasonal business at a seaside resort.

I think I remember that story, you broke some plates?

I was 23 when I got my first real job, although I did get an informal summer internship at my dad's place when I was 20.

Still, in spite of my late start, I have been quite successful: I'm still at that "first real job" nearly 10 years later, and my pay has more than doubled since then, so they're obviously happy with me!

I was hired by Walmart for $7.65/hr at the age of 18. :D

My first job was for my family at $100.00 per week, I worked like a dog.
