It just occurred to me that it's 9/11 today. What were you doing when the September 11 terrorist attacks happened?

I was in a kid in middle school, taking algebra class when the teacher got a call and turned on the news. We were all in shock.

I'd just got home from school, and put on the TV to watch some cartoons. However, I was utterly shocked by what I saw instead :'( ...

My condolences to the friends and families of the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on that horrible day.

I was doing the same. I was in 6th grade, I think, sitting in class when the school made an announcement about it. My mom was working on one of the local air force bases and they sent home all non-military personnel which included her. I think the school also dismissed most of us student early too or we went half-day.

I was at school. I was in 5th grade i think. I was with a couple of school friends having lunch before class.

It didn't make huge impact in me, i thought it was something about a war back then so..

I don't really remember it. I was very young and I was in school. When I got older I understood what happened and it's horrific that it happened. I can't imagine how hard it must be for the families who lost someone due to it..

No condolences for the 280,000 killed in Iraq as a response?

Forgot it was 9/11, only realized it as they mention covid was a death sentence to anyone at ground zero.

But yeah, I was in 5th grade and never really fully understood it, specially as I went to play Perfect dark which america was being attacked by ailens :P

I remember that day well. I was at work when some came in saying that planes were crashing everywhere. We had a little tv in the employee break room and each time we went to take out break, that tv would be tuned in to the news which would be discussing what was going on at the time.

The entire town was freaking out that they weren't going to be able to get gas anymore so they were taking their vehicles to the gas stations in town to fill them up while they could. I remember when I got home from work, one of my brothers gave whatever money he had in his wallet at the time and told me to go fill up my car (just in case).

The local news paper printed a second paper that day with the attacks on the front page. One of the restaurants here in town has it framed and hanging up on their wall.

ookay first off, why would people think they couldn't get gas? Second why would a restaurant frame that?

The same thing happened when I lived with my dad. There was a rumor going around that there wouldn't be any gas because of the military was going to war with Afghanistan. So the roads and streets were packed with people heading to every single gas station in town. Same thing happened when Bush said they were going after Saddam.
Anytime there's breaking news like a 9/11 or a pandemic, all of the idiots get into a panic and go buy out everything including the gas.
