Nowhere is that shift as prominent as in Germany. Its armed forces, known as the Bundeswehr, have been the victim of years of underinvestment – but that is set to change.
Germany needs to reform its spending policies before it can dump money into the military. They are making progress with this, but after WW2, they added laws that made it incredibly hard to make changes or ramp up their military spending. It still seems like they are trying to achieve workarounds instead of just fixing the actual issue, which keeps them behind and risks massive wasteful spending.
