1..2...10?! where are these guests comming from?

okay something strange is going on with my forums, as you can see i have two at the bottom link V but i also have two in the works.

yesterday the two in my signature got alot of guests, which i find is strange becuase i have not advertised them for a while.

now the two that are in the works have a bunch of guests, but i have no idea where they came from becuase i haven't advertised them before.



my suikocross has has 18 guests, my winds of fate has 49 guests!, one in the works has 11 guests and the other one has 5 guests.



i find this strange becuase i haven't advertised them and that if i get any guests i'm lucky just to have two guests.



so here are my questions for you



#1 what do you suppose could be causing this?

#2 has this happend to you in any way, just a strange occurance of guests.

Could be bots. See how many turn to registrations. Also, if you have any advertising threads, maybe one got bumped by someone?

I get a couple guests per day as well. If they're bots, they aren't likely to sign up like an actual user would, but if it's a user, then you can bet on them thinking about signing up. So I bet most of them are bots, and that's okay, because that's how you get your forum indexed.

This happened to me i had a big rush of guest yesterday.

Like said above, could be bots. We get a lot of search engine bots here.. So a bot could be crawling one of our pages, find your link, follow it, and crawl your forum.

That's pretty good. We only have 9 members, and 18 guests, but it feels like a lot more.

Doesn't it kind of add up to a lot more when you do the math?

I know that if someone posts a link to a forum on someone's twitter then your board will get filled with twitter bots. I seen like a hundred of them come on at once soon after someone posted a link on their twitter.



Also some users tend to show up as many guests as their ip keeps changing and each ip is considered a new person even if it is one guy.



Though in the end, you probably just got hit with a lot of search bots that crawl the board and that's it. I doubt much of any of them was actual people.
