Does it ever seem to you like people are becoming stupider than ever? There have always been people out there that have been a few cards short of a full deck, but these days it seems like more people than ever are a few fries short of a Happy Meal. Certainly our education system plays a major role in this. Our children are being systematically “dumbed-down” by our public schools and millions of them are graduating from high school asdumb as a rock. And the endless hours of mindless entertainment that most of us are addicted to certainly is not helping matters either. Will we eventually become a society where only a small minority possess critical thinking skills? In our world today, logic and reason seem to be in very short supply and the sheeple seem to have taken over. As I wrote about recently, in this day and age it is more imperative than ever that we all learn to think for ourselves. Unfortunately, most people do not seem to be doing that. Most people seem content to let their televisions do their thinking for them. Way too many people have a blank look in their eyes as if they aren’t even fully there. But when people are not thinking clearly, they tend to act very foolishly. From the very top of our society to the very bottom, people are doing some really stupid things.

The following are 16 signs that people are becoming stupider….

What are your thoughts on this?

I've already lost my memories of being in school because I was busy telling people that the planet will NOT end in 2012. To me, that's a myth.

I laughed at #2. I thought cell phones really do cause cancer, but I thought the studies are full of baloney.

I could totally see that happening with 1. Number 7 is just another sad example of the wrong person going to jail. Lack of common sense sadly. 12. That dude musta been high. Lol. You ever wonder if our school systems are 'dumbing down' the kids on purpose so they won't be able to form an opinion on big important issues? Less the Opressor or what have you has to fight against, the more an easy win he has.

Another sign that is clear, is when you stupidly leave your kids in a van while its hot out and you go into the store. Even if the ac is going. Not all that smart a move.

Seriously though, people aren't becoming stupider. There're just more people (ergo more stupid people).

The only thing they really lack is common sense and that's just something they can afford to lack in a modern western society.

On that note though, people can afford to be blithering idiots. Doctors will patch them up and charities will feed them :/

Also, modern communication methods allow them to be far more easily swayed by, well, anything really.

You know what, I'm beginning to see the advantages of the caste system...

End of the world in 2012! God I hope not! The new DBZ movie comes out in 2013! However will I watch it!? Lol!

Naw, seriously though, no one knows when the world will end. It could be then. It could be tomorrow. It could be 1000 years from now. Who knows! But one will drive themselves crazy if they sit and worry about it!

I agree with you. We are fast becoming a society of sheep that cannot think for themselves. Instead of doing critical thinking now a lot of people believe what the TV, internet or the church or someone in a position of authority tells them. Not a lot of people actually do their own research, look for flaws in the logic, try to see both sides of something and make their own decision. The motto nowadays is to let someone else make the decision of what is right or wrong. Actually it seems a waste that some of these people have brains

That's the product of children being taught what to think instead of how to think.

Instead of being taught how to find the answers, they are given the answers from a single source, and only answers from that source are accepted as correct.

Children should be taught how to provide their own sources and required to do so, then graded on the quality of the information,

I don't know whether it is stupidity of the fact that people are becoming more ignorant/the fact that people just can't be bothered to look things up themselves and would rather believe what the majority of the population are saying. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't know how to handle the amount of data that is available from the internet and books, and they get rather overwhelmed by it all. Ultimately leading to them accepting other people's views. Which is certainly more true for the more scientific points in the article. #13 people need to be told all of the risks and be more informed.

As for #14.... I'd try that.
