Most employers allow their employees a 30 minute lunch break.

Do you think this enough time?

Should we get longer lunch breaks?

How long should a lunch break be?

Would you like having a 2 or 3 hour break in the middle of your work day?

My current job has that 30 minute lunch break policy but nobody seems to really care about it. Our managers/HR never warn us, go strict about it or anything like that. So I take advantage of it and have my own one hour lunch break :p

30 minutes is long enough for me.

Only if the employee wants a longer lunch break.

As long as is reasonable.

Nope. I'd rather have a 30-minute lunch, get back to it, and leave so I can get my work day over sooner.

I used to work at Walmart and we'd get an hour lunch there. It gave me enough time to eat and still have time left over to chill and do whatever I wanted. I now only get 30 minutes on lunch, so I feel like I have to scarf down my food in order to enjoy the time I have left afterwards. I know some people think an hour is too long, but I didn't have an issue with having an hour lunch. So honestly I'd rather have an hour lunch, or even a 45 minute lunch but then my shift would probably be a bit longer to make up for the extra time.

At my job we're entitled to an hour's worth of breaks in our day. Usually I'll take one 15 minute break and a 45 minute lunch, that seems to be ideal for me. Like @Ravenfreak said an hour is too long. I am falling asleep or bored before I have to go back if I take an hour.

How could you get bored? Are you not allowed your phone at work? If you're not a fan of social media, at least you have OT :P

When I lived in Florida I had a job licensing doctors under a credentialing office. I had a 30 minute lunch break. I chose to work through my lunch breaks because I couldn't afford to eat because of how high my rent was. I lost 40 lbs doing that.

It depends. For example, my husband is a technician. He can work a 12 hour day sometimes but only gets a 30 minute lunch which with that should be an hour. I can be fine with a 30 minute lunch but if I'm doing double shifts at work, I want an hour with two 15 min breaks. I would not want a 2-3 hour break. Give me a 30 or hour(depending on how many hours I work) and I'm good to go.

That's so sad :(
Were you happy or frustrated about the weight loss? I mean weight loss isn't always healthy, and if you lose it that quickly it's a red flag especially.

I can use my phone but I don't really feel like getting on the internet / forums at that time, if I am on my phone I am probably watching youtube or playing a game. I check in here sometimes but it's usually pretty brief. Plus its easier to post with an actual keyboard.

So true!

I gotta admit though, xenforo is way better than baby mullet in on mobile. I bet that’s why so many webmasters migrated!

My last job had a 30 minute lunch break, I'd spend that time at my desk rather than going out to get lunch. I brought my lunch so just sat there and ate it. On the rare days I went out, it was usually to a dollar tree to pick up some water or, at most, some chips.

You sat at your desk? They didn't have a break room?

Because I was just strange lol
I get you, it's one of those things when you're hyper-focused as a software dev. I actually find that I solve more of my problems in my sleep and when going for a walk rather than at my desk! Took me a while to realise, but hey...
