5 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Own a Pet

shouldn't own an animal and would be better off caring for an artificial plant.

I have a cat, rabbit, and aquarium. I'd say they are happy.

Ive been thinking about getting a dog but I'm worried about being gone at work for 9 hours a day.

I'm glad you are worried about the amount of time the dog would be left alone. Where would the dog be all this time? I hope not locked up in a crate.

Well if it was a big dog he/she could could be left in the yard.

My dog lives in the kitchen. It's got a heater and he's got his bone. He's only a little dog so he doesn't need much. He's home alone a lot, but doesn't seem to mind coz he sleeps a lot

What if it barked all day while you were gone? Do you have a fenced in yard where you are renting?

He can be quite ferocious if he wants to. He bit my step dad right through his hand. My dogs (I'm just gonna call him by his name Scooby) a very laid back dog most of the time. The only time he barks is when he's seen a dog.

Our back yard has a massive wall. The ground outside the wall is lower than the yard.

Scooby's a clever dog. He can open the kitchen door, and our house has 3 floors, climbed up all 3 floors and when we came home and saw the door open we called him and he came staggering down the stairs huffing and puffing

Our dog is an outside dog and it lives in the yard 24/7, and even though we all have school and work, it's not that big of a deal. As long as you're willing to let it out every once in a while for a walk or maybe just go outside and play with it, it shouldn't get too lonely. My dog is by herself, but it's a nice sized yard and she's always willing to accept attention, plus, we walk her a lot. Good for you and your dog. So no, I wouldn't think that your dog would be lonely since you work 9 hours a day. My dog is very happy and isn't shown attention all the time. Most of the time she's just in the backyard.

Well there is no fence seperating the backyard from the front yard. However there is a fence in the front. I have to open a gate to pull into the driveway.

I would have to get a big dog because a small dog could slip through the bars.

The fence looks somewhat like this:
