Hey guys, do you think I'd be better off doing a blog instead of a forum? A blog would be easy to maintain, no rules, hardly, and you can write about whatever you want, really. Wheras, with a forum, most of them had loads of rules, and you only have so much say over what you can say. I'm really ready to give up foruming for good and move on to blogs. I know you guys are gonna be POed at me for this, but I've been foruming for three years and opening and closing forums for a year, and all of it is really getting old, to be honest. I was thinking that if I had my own private blog, I could write about thoughts and feelings without starting a flame war or anything like that. What do you guys think I should do? Please, no prior remarks about my forum owning experience or anything like that. I don't need to be reminded of that.

Honestly it's really up to you..You could try to see if you are better with blogs by starting one, but it depends on you blogging abilities.

Well, I can't give up foruming as much as I thought I'd be able to. I still have a blog, but if I choose to be active on any one site, it will be this one. I'm abandoning my own forum, simply because I'm just not cut out to run one, and I have no desire to run one, so I will be doing blogs and just staying here on this forum.

Blogs can get ugly too. A lot of comment spam bots and people coming to write nasty things.

You can always (at least on blogspot) enable moderation of comments. You could keep the nasty ones from showing up. Edit the yucky ones out.....

Yes, that is true.

I have started a myspace account back up, and I am doing my blogs as a diary. However, this will be temporary, as I am still looking for someplace decent. I have considered blogspot, but isn't that one of those ones where you need a Gmail account?

yes, for blogspot you do need a gmail account.

However, there is a new feature (at least new to me) on live accounts (hotmail and live) you can add a blog on there. You might want to check it out.

Well, as stupid as this sounds, I went back to Chatting Time (my forum) and have decided to keep that going. Because I originally decided to close it, I have now lost an administrator, but I still have one moderator, and two admins weren't needed right now anyway, so I'm going to keep going with CT. In fact, the next time I am going to get the stupid idea in my head to close a forum, I'm just going to keep pushing at promoting my forum, because really, what I've been doing this past year is stupid. I want to have one successful forum and stick with it. So what if I opened it at a bad time? That doesn't mean I shouldn't keep trying! Foruming is a hobby, and all I've been doing is treating it like a career, and I gotta lay off and have some fun with it, which is what I plan on doing.
