What is a computer skill that you are surprised many people don't know how to do?

Just some of the basics.
  • Some people don't know where to find a free anti virus and firewall.
  • Some people don't know where to get free programs to use.
  • Some people don't know about Extensions.

Installing a software, which Windows is best. Which Antivirus they should install etc..

Win+shift+s to mark an area to screenshot, I use it several times a day in my job and I've seen people instead press print screen and then paste the entire image into paint and then select the area they wanted to screenshot into a new image and then save it etc.

Telling people that WIndows or your system has builtin useful tools that they are not even aware of;P Like Snipping tool for taken images simple and fast :)

Also, people do not get between the 3D chip and Encode Chip in your GPU.

Understanding file/folder organization and knowing that you can search for files. I have people at work ask for help because they don’t know where they saved something.

Many don't know how to email, some don't know how to right-click, others on how to copy and paste a link or take a screenshot. Schools are failing people.

Able to do updates the right and wrong way and disable what you do not even need, people aren't even aware of what things they have running in the background.

That's actually pretty interesting, I've never heard of this - I was aware of 3rd party tools which could make it easier but I never knew Windows had anything like this built in.

I am surprised that some people do not know how to use computers. It is because they were uneducated.

I was so surprised that one of my friends did not know how to use copy and paste. That is so basic and even more surprising is that the guy is a diploma graduate, he ought to know this by now. But I guess not everyone is a computer enthusiast. But still it is one of those skills you need in the current job market, keep learning new things.

After working in IT, you'd be surprised at the most basic things people don't know how to do, and the infuriating thing is how some people are proud that they're computer illiterate and refuse to learn.
