Every day at 10am, a process called pcdrcui.exe (which is Dell's PC Checkup) runs and I would like to know how to stop it from running again. I tried to look for something in Dell Support Center and the PC Checkup utility itself to stop the process from being run again and I can't find it. I don't like it run every day without my consent, I would want to run it when I want to. Can anyone help, for those that have a Dell computer plus these programs? There's got to be a way to stop it, otherwise would I have to uninstall the whole program.

Start->Run->Type: msconfig[enter]->Find the tab that lists the things that start at start up and uncheck whatever you feel like unchecking.

I use Windows 7, and I cannot find these commands at all. Sorry, should've mentioned that earlier.

I've opened up msconfig and I cannot find anything under the Services or Startup tabs mentioning that process. And DrLeftover, I've not had any problems with Windows 7 so I don't know why you're saying this.

It's not so bad if you configure it right.

Ok...

*boots into 7.* (I just so happen to dual boot XP and 7

Well, I get a list of programs under the Startup tab, but if it's not there you should check the Startup folder (Start->All Programs->Startup), could be in there.

I only have McAfee Security Scan Plus in the Startup folder. Damnit... would it hurt if I uninstall Dell PC Checkup though? I've been thinking of doing that if there's no other way I can locate and prevent the process running every day again

I doubt it'd hurt, lots of people use their computers without it undoubtedly.

What is it even supposed to do?

It's really only there to check my computer's status by its hardware and such. I can always get an alternative but if anyone knows of one, that'd be great.

I think you'll be able to survive without. I only update my drivers when something refuses to work

I've uninstalled it, so I wouldn't expect that process to come back tomorrow morning.

Nope... it never came back. Yay! Someone can lock this now as the problem's sorted

That was just based on my experience with it.

They installed Windows 7 on several machines at work, only to find out that it was totally incompatible with older databases, printers, scanners, and other peripherals. And that includes equipment that had drivers available for 7.

And we have several MS certified techies and programers on staff.
