Have you ever gone to a forum (or website I guess) and seen the host's Account Suspended message?

Some time's see this message permanently and forum never comes back. Do you think the forum owner should redirect his/her domain to a page or even a post on another forum that explains what happened? Is not doing this and leaving members wondering what happened irresponsible behavior?

Believe it or not, Ive seen this same scenario several times.

I've never seen this happen but I do think there should be a redirect to let members know what's going on.

Most forums that had this problem come up are usually rather crappy forums. I figure any decent forum experiencing this problem would make an effort to quickly find a new host as soon as possible to get the board back up and running. One thing I think would be good is if hosts put a date as to when the account was suspended when you click the link so visitors to the site are aware of how long it's been like that so they can tell if waiting it out is worth it or not.

Agreed with Bluezone, if you have any respectable forum this problem most likely wouldn't occur and if so then you would have the decency to explain it somewhere. With that being said I've never experienced this on a forum I've frequented.

Crap or not, they should still have the decency to tell the members what happened.

Oh I agree but I was just saying how it's usually crappy forums that experience this problem. I never seen decent forums go down due to account suspension. I doubt you will ever see that message on here or on Forum Promotion for example as I would think those two boards would never let it happen in the first place and if it did happen then it would be fixed pronto.

This happened on a forum I was staff on recently.

Turns out the admin didnt pay the host.. got warning after warning, then the account got suspended. Not seen the admin since. :/

I've seen this with several sites, and it's annoying. I would say leaving members wondering is irresponsible behavior. What gets me is when this happens on paid (advanced) hosting sites. It says something like, such and such site has been suspended. If you are the owner of this site, please contact the billing department and I'd be staring at the page like, WTF??? I seriously think that people should direct a link to another site, perhaps a site that they are more active on if they can, rather than leaving a message for them to contact some billing department.

I've seen this more with advanced hosting than free forum hosting. Free Forums usually just display a disability message of some sort. Like, This Board Is Currently Under Maintainence. Please try again later That's actually even more annoying, to be honest.

alot of the time accounts get suspended because the host find out that there is content what is conflicting with the TOS (terms of service) some good hosts warn you and some just suspend no questions asked lol.

I also had my account suspended on a free forum when it was 'inactive' how stupid? i left an old forum for about a year and came back and it was suspended.. kinda silly really!
