I have been a member of a free sample forum for many years. Over time, I have accumulated thousands of points. These points are used to bid for free samples other members have received but want to swap.

I went to the forum this morning and it's all changed. They must have over the past few days changed the forum software they were using. When they made the change, no accounts were carried over. All my points are now gone! Not only that, they didn't even have the decency to send out an announcement they were going to do this.

Now I get a message: If you want to be part of our forum, please register. Registration is free and only takes a few minutes.

Needless to say, I am ripping mad!

My question: Would you go back to a forum that did this to you?

It depends on whether the accounts not being carried over was something that was expected or not. If they didn't expect to run into the problem then one really couldn't get upset over it as things happen. If they expected it to happen and said nothing then that would probably make sense to not be happy about it. I personally wouldn't care much as I can't see myself getting upset over losing a free account where I earn points that didn't cost me any money in order to get free samples which don't cost me anything either. If I could live without free samples before then I can do it now. You can always join again and re earn what was lost if the samples are important to you or you can stay without an account and remain mad over it. I don't see what the benefit in that would be but that's just me.

Depend on their attitude about what happen. If they didn't seem to care and wanted me to start over then I would say Why bother?. No need to spend time accumulating those points again just so they could be wiped out the next time they did an unannounced upgrade.

If on the other hand they where sorry about what happen then I might think about it. After all sometimes there are unforeseen problems that caused the account to be wiped out when doing the upgrade. That is understandable.

All would depend on their attitude toward the users from what happen in other words.

I probably would because I like forums... although I cannot guarantee I'd be as active.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I did not go back.
