Do you find it annoying when an administrator's username is simply Admin ?

Nope

It's easy to remember.

I don't see a problem with this. At least you know who the Admin is. There is a forum I was a member of and they keep the staff a secret. That to me is rediculous as members don't know who to contact if they need help.

Why would anyone be bothered by what username they used provided it's not intended to be offensive? Naming yourself admin is hardly intended to offend or bother anyone.

I find it almost hysterical at times to be perfectly honest with you, ProBoards, I'm pretty sure has it as default. I find it excruciatingly annoying to see whenever the other administrators have names like moderator and so on however, if not excessively done than over time, you could and likely will stop noticing and start regarding him as admin almost the same way as you regard Nebulous as well, Nebulous.

Yes, I do. It's arrogant as hell.

There are several ways an administrator can share their status without coming across as a pretentious prick.

- Usergroup

- Title

- Signature

Also, most forums have ways of listing the moderating/administrative team.

Also, it makes it more difficult for Admin to participate equally in discussions, because it's painfully obvious to members they are talking to Admin, and thus makes it more difficult to see them as a person.

I think that's a little bit harsh, I don't see having your name as Admin making you a pretentious prick or arrogant as hell. I've seen websites that have an owner that called himself that and he never through around his power or treated himself as a superior, he wasn't doing it to irritate anybody.

I kind of agree with you.

I remember a screen shot I took last year:

It was so funny and over the top that I had to point out this overkill.

It doesn't bother me particularly, though I do think a username seems more

friendly. Some sites do have a 'display' name alternative so you don't have to

use 'Admin' as your forum name. But as I said, it doesn't bother me if Admin

is used.
