For members who have adopted a pet: How did you choose?

when i wanted a cat i went to the shelter for a rescue.......always thought it is good to give an animal a second chance

i chose willow cos she was so timid.....when i entered her pen she ran away to hide.....the rescue volunteer said she always did that which is why they has called the Heidi...cos she always went to hide

i coaxed her out and and she liked being cuddled for a moment or two before getting scared

i saw the potenial in her, and i figured she would always be looked over by others cos she hid away

one of the best things i ever did...........she is a lovely friendly cat now.....makes me happy she got another chance at life

Rescue is a great way, but there are many different ways as well. You should always make sure you're ready for a pet, and willing to spend the time to play with and love it. It is a living creature that had needs and feelings as well, maybe not exactly like humans, but they do definitely have their personalities. This means you should spend some time making sure you know what kind of temperment will work for you and your family. Make sure you spend time with certain animals to get a feel for how they respond to you and whether you'll be a good match.
