ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany teenager is facing a rape charge after an alleged assault. Police said multiple weapons were also found while they conducted an investigation.
A sexual assault was reported to Albany police on May 18. Police said a handgun was used for intimidation during the assault. A 17-year-old boy from Albany was identified as the suspect.
On June 5, police executed a search warrant at a home on the 500-block of Lark Drive as part of an ongoing investigation. Police found four handguns, two of which were loaded. Multiple people were arrested, including the 17-year-old sexual assault suspect.
The 17-year old was charged with one count of rape in the first degree, one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, one count of menacing in the second degree, and five counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree. He was arraigned and sent to a juvenile facility. His name is not being released due to his age.
