I won't go into too much detail, who knows who might read this. But anyway, at my school there is the large number of senior students who drink alcohol and smoke dope.... They even do it on school trips.

So, me and a couple of others decide to put an end to it. We headed off to the school administration and asked to see a senior management official... happened to be one of my subject teachers.

Anyway, we sat down and told that we wanted it to be done in confidence, to which it was kindly agreed... We began saying what we have seen and heard (and smelt). Names were taken down and most shockingly was the fact that a number of the students are the leaders of the school, including deputy head girl and numerous prefects and prefect applicants. And what they are doing is not only violating the school rules, it's violating the law!

It's shocking. We've managed to get evidence from their Facebook profiles (eg, photos)... and will all be dealt with next term.

What are your views on this matter? Have you been involved in this kind of activity?

Nope. I've heard of it happening in my school, but I am not all that bothered by it. There are people who obviously do it, and it's really their choice. I don't get too involved with it through. School officials take care of what they can, but that's only so much, like whatever is on school grounds.

My high school was ghetto.. Half the students were on drugs and alochol (even doing it before/during school) and there was lots of gangs and violence.

I was glad to graduate.

You need to be reporting it. What happens to that guy without many friends who you see normally by himself if he gets caught up with the wrong crowd?

My friends were really scared to tell, in case someone found out who told. I wasn't at all hesitant. I just told them to act surprised along with everyone else and no-one will suspect a thing.

Well if they do find out then you might be the victim of some violent retaliation..

At least thats what would have happened in my school.

What do I think of this situation? You won't like my answer but you're a rat. I didn't think people would sell out at your age. I'm not thrilled to learn that some do.

How were their actions hurting you? Are you without fault of any kind? What makes you think that what they do is any of your business?
I don't care if anyone calls me a rat. I know that I did the right thing. I could well have gone to the police and reported it, but decided to stick to the school administration.

How were their actions hurting me? They hurt not just mine, but when people are getting up and leaving class then returning with large bottles of tequila and the stench of dope smoke all over, it makes it hard to concentrate in class and learn.

Had I not reported and something happened such an alcohol fueled rampage occurred, then I believe that there would have been some element of fault of mine for not doing anything about it when I had numerous opportunities.

Does that answer your question?

I answered all three of your questions. And I know that they will not get violent. Violence is a rarity at my school. And I also know that not one of them will assault me as they know they will find themselves arrested.

It's bad at my school too, but here in America, you rat you'll end up getting killed. It's best to let people screw up their lives and leave it to the parents, police, and school staff. Not going to get involved, because no telling what could happen.

Indeed.

New Zealand is nothing like that.... you might be ignored for a couple of weeks, but thats about all that would really happen if found out.... if anything were to happen for that matter.

Yes it happens at lots of schools because theres not enough staff to cover the whole school.
