A New York firm believes it is the first in the world to create and sell alcoholic beer-flavoured ice cream.

The ice cream, called Frozen Pints, comes in seven different flavours and the strongest tub has a alcohol level of 3.2 per cent.

Each special portion of ice cream comes in a 454ml tub and costs £4.33. Peach Lambic is the weakest at one per cent, while Pumpkin Ale is the strongest.

Ari Fleischer, 29, founder of Frozen Pints from New York, said how the quirky concept actually started by accident.

He said: "We were having a party and a friend brought over an ice cream maker to make homemade ice cream.

"But another friend spilled a beer nearby, and I watched it happen and thought: 'This is a great idea!'

"We start with the beer as it is all about finding the best, most flavourful craft brews - and then build a flavour around them."

Ari added: "You must be of legal drinking age to purchase and consume this ice cream and we believe it's the first product of its kind.

"One pint of Frozen Pints ice cream is equal to one pint of beer - so you would have to eat a lot of ice cream to get drunk!"

Proofed to be able to buy ice cream? How many store owners are going to bother doing that I wonder. :|

Anyway, you want some?

Care for some pineapple juice or fermented milk in your beer?

Strange brews are on tap in Japan this summer, as the country's biggest beer-makers— Asahi Breweries Ltd. 2502.TO -2.51% and Kirin Brewery Co. 2503.TO -3.05% —experiment with novelty beers they hope will appeal to younger Japanese drinkers, particularly women, who prefer drinks sweeter than the average pint.

The gimmicky concoctions are available mainly at bars and temporary beer gardens the companies have set up for the peak quaffing season in cities across Japan.

I wonder if eating this ice cream actually gives you a buzz or makes you drunk if you eat enough?
They should sell one with a higher alcohol content than 3% but still make it taste good. :P

You go try that. Just keep telling people it's for science.

Yes, yes of course! ;)

Grocery stores and party stores should sell this kind of ice cream, but your birth date must be on or before today's date, 21 years from this year, to buy and consume the product.
