New York's largest beer distributors have agreed to stop selling alcoholic energy drinks and now have until Dec. 10 to clear their inventory.

The New York State Liquor Authority has not banned the drinks outright, but the SLA has voiced concern over the fact that the drinks can contain as much alcohol as four beers. New York Sen. Chuck Schumer is calling for a federal investigation into the drink companies' marketing tactics.

Alcoholic energy beverages are banned in Michigan, Wisconsin, Utah, and Oklahoma.

I've gotten drunk off these cheap beers with my friends too many times to count. I'm sort of glad they're gone, as i live in New York, because they gave you a terrible hangover and if you happened to get drunk, it was never a really good one.

How much % alcohol is in beer in the US?

Most beers are 5% I think.

I dont know why they would ban this beer because it has more alcohol. People can get liquor that is like 80% alcohol. lol

It's because it became a problem with underage drinking.

It was 4 dollar cheap energy drink beer.

So you are underage drinking because they make energy beer?

And all other teens? If they ban it, people will continue to underage drink.

I didn't say that's why i drank. And they have removed it and i have ultimately stopped. I'm underage drinking because i'm just a dumb teen who wants some fun once in a while.
