A Mafia boss has come up with what might be the greatest ‘get out of jail free’ excuse ever – he is allergic to prison.

Senior Mafia Giulio Lampada, 44, was jailed for 14 years for his role in the organised crime unit of the Condella clan.

However he has been allowed to go home after serving just seven months as dozens of doctors ruled he was ‘incompatible’ with prison.

He reportedly lost 22lb due to only eating fruit and light snacks and never left his cell in the Liguria region of Italy.

Lampada, who was arrested in November 2011, could not even be transferred to a psychiatric ward, as it was believed he would not fare well in that environment either.

He reportedly became depressed because his life of crime had led him to develop an aversion to men in uniform and to prison bars.

A judge in Milan allowed Lampada to move back to his villa on the outskirts of the city under house arrest.

There, he’ll be reunited with his wife and three daughters so he can recover.

His lawyer, Giuseppe Nardo, said: ‘During his time in jail he never left his cell. He even needed help to go to the bathroom.’

Thoughts?

Really? And I thought cops & criminals usually meet after working hours and play poker together. :P

While he should be punished for his crimes, the possibility of him developing a traumatic disorder or some sort of phobia to being locked up does exist and holds psychological ground.

Yeah, so?

He reportedly became depressed

If that's all it takes to get released, all prisons would be empty. It's not Disney Land.
