The case is under Italian law and their "('criminal justice system')", which simply means, the Law, as we understand it, is essentially meaningless.
The Italian court system, indeed, the entire peninsula, is so crooked they have to put their hat on with a socket wrench.
Most likely, her judge was waiting on a bigger bribe to decide in her favor.
