This reminds me of this quote.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Florida Schools Ban Bibles After Pressure from Atheists

Amid mounting pressure from both atheist groups and concerned parents, Orange County (Fla.) Public Schools have banned Bible distribution in several area high schools after Satanists and an anti-religion group announced plans to pass out their own literature.

One of the largest school systems in the country with more than 180,000 students, OCPS had allowed World Changers of Florida, a Christian group, in conjunction with the Florida Family Policy Council to passively distribute Bibles to high school students on Jan. 16 -- which is National Freedom of Religion Day -- for the past three years.

Under the school system’s policy at the time, Bibles could be placed on a table in a common area for students to pick up if they chose to do so.

And from Missouri:

Student Banned From Reading Bible at School
9 Jan

MARSHALL, Mo. -- A seventh-grader was told by his teacher that he couldn't read the Bible at school.

Loyal Grandstaff said he loves to read the Bible and was doing just that before Christmas break when the teacher told him he wasn't allowed to read it.

"I was just reading, reading because I had free time. A time to do what I wanted to so I just broke it out and read," said Loyal Grandstaff.

The reporter interviewing Loyal then asked if he was bothering anyone when he read it.

Loyal said, "I shouldn't have been."

The principal at the Missouri school said that Bibles are "not" banned and he will look further into the incident to find out why the teacher told Loyal he couldn't read the book.

i thought it was supposed to be keep church and state separate...

there's church and private schools that are religious...

public schools should be free of all religious teachings and instead, teach the children what they need to know in life...

There is no separation of church and state and never has been in America. It is a made up thing from a letter taken out of context written by Jefferson. The founders did not want federal government inserting religion into our laws but did not have a problem with religion influencing there decisions when laws were made. And they certainly did not want religion banned from schools for individuals who privately wish to read there faith. And that is what happening here. No one is teaching religion in the school here. No one is trying to give out a bible to passing individuals. It is a bible put on a table and if you freely want to read it fine.

But this is how it all starts with the banning of books through fear. And my own little conservative town has gotten a taste of it last year.

looks to me that these are just isolated incidents and the ones that are telling these children they cannot read their bibles or pray should be reprehended, and if found again doing it, then be fired...

end of story...
